Meetings 101 September 1, 2009

Filed under: Information — sdpbdrn @ 11:14 AM

The format: town hall meeting

Structure: Agenda presentation, introduction, debate, wrap up

Panel: selected dancers from the group of dancers currently in an empowered position to make a difference within the subject at hand. (we would of course like every professional to be on the panel, but to ensure meeting efficiency: we choose to select a few for each meeting)

Panel members: The panel may or may not have different members each meeting, depending on what subjects we are addressing. Panel members are selected for each individual meeting to maintain a panel that reflects all our local experience as professional dancers.

Senior advisors: We will additionally have senior advisers whom we recognize for having the longest experience within whatever field or area of interest we are discussing to reflect their general experience.

Others: Dancers not on the panel sit in on the panel discussion and will have their say once the agenda presentation and introduction part of the meeting has been done. Everyone’s opinion and insight counts.

Mediator: There will be a mediator that will keep the meetings on track and prepare an agenda for each meeting. The mediator may also request polls to be answered by local professional belly dancers in-between meetings to be presented as guiding statistic data at the meetings. Meetings are to be run efficiently by the mediator. Meetings should be effective in enabling the local professional belly dancers to do our jobs well. The meeting mediator is currently DaVid of Scandinavia.

We are professionals and each minute of our time is valuable to us – so the time needs to be utilized constructively, effectively and in a goal oriented way.

Each participant is to leave intrigues, personal emotions, professional egos, artistic visions, utopic fantasies at home when arriving at the meeting. This will be of great assistance to all in getting through the meeting in an effective manner. In an effort to achieve this – we will not be using dance names – but the names of the professional business owners present at our meetings.

In order to make effective use or our time every contribution is restricted by the following time limits:
The panel will have 5 minutes for lead-in contributions and then 2 minute per contribution.
Senior advisors get 5 minutes for lead-in contributions and then are allowed 2 minutes per contribution.
The participating dancers will have 2 minute per contribution.

Keep in mind that we are not trying to change the world – we are merely working among ourselves to see how we best can represent our businesses and to enable ourselves to do our jobs as best as possible.

This is a forum for performing belly dancers – not for teachers. They will have to have their own meetings on their own.

No restaurant owners will be invited. This is an effort by the local professional belly dancers for the local professional belly dancers – and for generations of local professional belly dancers to come.

NOTE: current restrictions apply: no pay rates nor tipping rules will be discussed at our meetings – to propagate efficiency at our meetings – until restriction is lifted.
